Now the Director of Bradfield Senior College, Meredith has over 10 years’ experience teaching youth at risk in HSC English, creative writing and entertainment.
Meredith started her career in television at WINTV Wollongong. There, she presented and produced her own children’s program, Ace, which ran for 9 years. She also completed a part time Bachelor of Arts majoring in Media and Communication.
Meredith then joined Qantas as an international flight attendant before moving on to the role of Internal Communications Journalist. Later, as Manager of Inflight Entertainment, Meredith was one of the key players in the implementation of inseat video systems for the global airline entertainment industry.
Meredith was a founding director of the Sydney Youth Writing Competition for primary schools. She is passionate about working with senior school students to nurture and develop creative skills in conjunction with their academic studies.
While creativity is more valued in education today, there is still a long way to go to truly recognise and cater for creative personalities. Many schools stifle individuality and expression by boxing students in to traditional lesson plans and rigid school structures.
What happens if you take a chance and give young students real trust and the freedom to be themselves? Meredith has found that they can respond in ways that go beyond our expectations.
